OSCE Training in the UK for Internationally Educated Nurses
Passing the NMC CBT is a big step towards registering as a nurse in the UK. The next step is the OSCE, the practical exam that decides whether you can start working in the NHS.
Envertiz Academy provides focused OSCE training in the UK at our centres in Oxford, Londonderry and Aberdeen, so you can practise every station with trainers before exam day.

What Is the NMC OSCE?
The OSCE tests three things together
Your clinical skills
The tasks and scenarios you carry out at each station while an examiner observes.

Your communication with patients
How you introduce yourself, ask for consent and explain things clearly.

Your understanding of UK professional values
The values set out in the NMC Code.
The OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) is Part 2 of the NMC Test of Competence for nurses trained outside the UK. You take it after passing the computer-based test (CBT). During the exam, you move through 10 stations, and at each one you carry out a clinical task or scenario while an examiner observes and marks you.
Many nurses with years of experience find it difficult, because UK standards and exam expectations differ from those in their home country. Good OSCE preparation closes that gap.

DAYS 1 TO 3
Online Learning
You start with three days of live online sessions. These cover how the OSCE is structured and marked, the NMC Code and professional values, UK infection prevention and medicines practice, and how to communicate clearly and respectfully with patients. You also learn how to read a station, plan your time and avoid common mistakes.

DAYS 4 TO 8
Face-to-face training
You then join us at one of our centres for five days of hands-on practice. Each day you work through OSCE stations in realistic clinical set-ups, including timed mock stations and full mock OSCE circuits. Trainers give you feedback on every attempt, so you know exactly what to improve. By the last day, you will have practised the full exam format more than once.
What You Will Practise
-
The professional values station, including how to show the NMC values in your words and actions.
-
Clinical skills stations, including hand hygiene and infection control, safe medicines administration, and basic life support.
-
Assessment and care planning, and how to explain your decisions clearly to the examiner.
-
Communication, including introductions, consent, empathy, and giving clear explanations to patients.
-
Documentation and handover using the SBAR method.
-
Time management, so you finish each station calmly within the allowed time.
